WeekEnds Take Out BBQ and Catering

About us

Weekends BBQ began as a small weekend side job out of a glorified garage on the west edge of Plainview. Founder Glenn Neil, a California native, had years of experience in the beef industry working at Cargill but was new to the world of Texas barbecue. What started as a hobby quickly gained momentum, and within the first year, Weekends grew into a full-time business.

With the help of his wife Michele, and their children Monte and Whitney—who were still in middle school at the time—Weekends BBQ became a staple of the Plainview community. Michele was the backbone of the business in its early days, supporting Glenn behind the scenes while balancing family life. She was also a beloved teacher in Plainview for more than 30 years, touching countless lives in the classroom as well as through the restaurant. Her encouragement, hard work, and quiet strength helped turn a garage hobby into a thriving restaurant. When she became ill in 2012 and later passed away in 2019, it was not only a deep loss for her family but also for the Plainview community that loved her. Through those years, Glenn carried on, managing everything from late-night pitmaster duties to bookkeeping, while also expanding the business. As demand outgrew the original space, the family knew it was time for something bigger.

During the transition from the garage to a larger operation, Whitney played an important role in helping hold down the fort and keeping the doors open while Glenn managed the bigger picture. In 2021, Monte returned to Plainview just as the family purchased a new building. He took the lead on what became a three-year construction journey, pouring his time, energy, and vision into every detail. The new Weekends BBQ and Catering, which opened at 2206 W. 5th Street in February 2024, is the direct result of Monte's dedication. What Weekends is today reflects his vision for the future of barbecue in Plainview. Alongside the Neil family, longtime manager Peter Morales has been with Weekends BBQ for more than 12 years, helping guide the team and keeping the tradition of quality alive. Glenn's wife Donya Neil has also become an important part of the team, continuing the family's legacy of hospitality and commitment to community.

Today, our menu showcases all the Texas BBQ staples including smoked brisket, handmade sausages, ribs, and more, alongside scratch-made sides and sweet desserts. We proudly serve Dublin Bottling Works sodas, both in bottles and on fountain, and offer a cold beer selection in our front bar area. Weekends BBQ has grown from a garage pit to a Plainview landmark, and this is only the beginning. With our new location, expanding catering, and a passion for serving authentic Texas barbecue, the fire is burning hotter than ever. We're building traditions, feeding generations, and can't wait for you to be part of what's next.
